Excellent stump, good score (deep envy from the east).
Are you sure that the "back" doesn't offer a good clear stump base? I'd be thinking about it. It seems less congested that the "front", particularly if the big left-side trunk gets taken out (the smaller trunks can cover it.) Just a thought (after a couple of beers).
Great start.

I'm with Gavin, I like the back photo to be the front.
Good luck with the pot hunting.

Yeah a pot might be hard to find but have seen them but not in South Australia. The box its in now is 60cm X 40 an just makes it be looking for a rectangle pot 80cm X 60cm or a square 60cm X 60cm.
Ive chosen this as the front for now as im a fan of deadwood

an give me a lot of options but this may change depending on where there re-growth comes from. This will be the center piece of my bonsai collection in time in about 10yrs
The tree is 110cm wide by 80cm high.

Welcome to the Impractical Olive Club mate!

I know how you feel about the pot. Mine's in a 120cm diameter bath!

It was a pleasure to show you a few local spots, and for you to find what you were hopeing for.
I havent tackled mine as yet, will do so tonight after work, need to bring my chainsaw home first
Now that offer to help me on a dig....well there is a gnarly redgum I have had my eye on, trouble is I cannot get an excavator in there

Um Paul, you know we have a backhoe? I picked up another olive similar to the one I gave you, but one big trunk, its gonna be brilliant if it lives. Currently soaking.
Next door is a fantastic olive, about 3 feet high and been grazed a lot so naturally bonsaied, if that is a verb. If I get cooperation from hubby (already got neighbour permission) it could be lifted with the backhoe. This tree is symmetrical, neatly grazed to a tight stump but at least 20 years old. Ive been drooling from a distance for a while, If I can get it it is a two person tree, worth $1000 on the first day.
