Hi guys, Can you please tell me what this tree is,as a newbie I was given it a year or two back (must have seen me coming) is it fit for anything other than the bin, my first thought is to cut it right back and develop more branches.
Am I wasting my time.

Eucalyptus dont kn-owus
Still learning Red so I will give my thoughts to the chop, maybe use the main branch on the right as the new leader and chop the rest above it "the trunk"
that would add some movement into it too and maybe also chop the at the elbow on the new leader, thats all I can suggest but wait and see what the sperts say

The only really great Euc bonsai I have seen are quite large - 1m or more to be realistic Search some posts by PeterH with E. nicholli for inspiration viewtopic.php?f=136&t=7770&p=87436&hili ... ypt#p87436.

If it was mine i'd wack it in the ground for a couple of year's to get a bit more size in the trunk then use the first thick branch as the main leader & then jin the striaght part of the main trunk above that branch, that would put some movement into the tree making a very nice informal upright
