It should be a great convention! A bit cold though I imagine :P
Ryan should be good, I can’t wait to see him.
Plus some great local demonstrators and the new National collection...
Might have to postpone my trip to Japan :P

Hey guys, it is not so cold here during the day - yet 15-19°C and sunny - starting to get light frosts though, but rum or whisky works a treat...

Ryan is excited to be involved with the convention, and is looking forward to both understanding the development of bonsai in Australia and sharing his observations on the development of bonsai in the US ..... and he is not scared of a little frost...:-)

Here is what he said....
" I am really excited to be able to contribute to this event and look forward to exploring the concept of meshing east and west: what from the Japanese model can be applied to bonsai in the western world to aid us in our pursuit of bonsai excellence. There are things I acquired in Japan that I carry with me in every step of my bonsai pursuit, however my style is now different than my style in Japan based on the American culture which surrounds me and the American trees I now work on every day. How does this meshing occur, what does it mean, what do we need to understand in order to do it properly?"

Looking forward to seeing all of you next May. The conference looks great, and i had nothing to do with the planning either - so not biased that way! Grea credit to those have done all the heavy lifting. 0

Ryan Neil sounds fantastic. Much looking forward to learning more about his approach.

And the national collection in its new home! I had a quick look today. Solid walls have been treated, permanent pedestals are being installed, and the visitor centre next door is looking fantastic!

If you are interested in Ryan Neil's style of demonstration have a look at his demonstration from the Noelanders Trophy 2011

I've just watched Ryan's demonstration. Now I can't wait to see him live.m

Also how much better are hands free microphones. Boon was working and talking the whole time, explaining what he was doing as he was doing it.
Aikido keeps me rolling; Bonsai keeps me still.

I'm watching it right now. Some great ideas linking life to one's creation. Bonsai from the heart, an expression of you, not someone's else's work.

Just a quick note to say that all of Ryan Neil's workshops at the 2013 AABC convention in Canberra are fully registered. There are still places as observers in both morning and afternoon workshops but we expect a lot of interest in attending these. Be in to win folks...
