Been raining for 6hrs at work so gave up an stopped in at my parents place where ive got a patch of Chinese elms growing for the last 15yrs. These things never get water just when it rains an have developed nice bark so found me one to dig up will leave the second trunk for now but it may go later.

Cant wait to train this one been along time since i had a elm as a bonsai im hoping when it shoots i get some at the base on the left hand side for maybe a triple trunk tree think it will balance the tree out a bit to let me no what you think going for a finished height of about 40-50cm which is alot smaller then most my other trees
Here is a update on this elm ive now given it to my 9yr old daughter its been growing fast an we where tipping the growing shoots every weeken so we cut the remaining straight trunk out an reduced the the second trunk an trained new leaders for both. Going to be a good tree for her to work on as it needs constant work this time of year i wired the young shoots for now but will let her take over from here But ill do the carving or wife will shoot me for letting our daughter using a power tool hahahaha.

threads help me start to put the vague pieces together. If i had looked at the original stump you dug up, I would've had no idea what todo with it. But after seeing where you're taking it, I can envision a great tree in the future.
