last bonsai club meeting, QV wired up my plum from Bodhidharma, after once again argueing with me over the length of the trunk... I once again suggested shortening it...

here are the photos of the end result...

I am aware that the pot doesn't suit, however upon attempting to repot it, I discovered a few issues with the roots, and it needed to go into a larger pot, to allow further root developement.

That will be a lovely tree. Beautiful movement. Sorry about the roots. I had not done work on it after collecting it

root wise, just developed the top. What will be your preferred front

Very fine and graceful - I certainly wouldn't think to shorten it. I'd like to see it in flower, if that's possible.

Where would you shorten it to? It has such a beautiful feminine trunk and with a few years ramification will be a really nice tree.

I have no idea about a front, The pot I have planned for it, is round, so it will be able to be shifted to ?display? however desired... I'm working on developing root system now, and maintaining the canopy

when I picked the tree, I had a vision of a short, 20cm or so trunk, in an informal upright... I soon had that idea knocked off...

It had lower branching thickening the trunk.

I walked in with that tree (into bendigo clubs meeting) and instantly had several people drooling over it... I think if i'd tried to shorten the trunk, I'd have been wrestled to the floor while the tree was spirited away...

several people declared the "design" of the tree straight away...

Paddles it gladdens my heart to see another plum on this forum, thankyou. I don't really want to get on the band wagon, but the direction it is now taking is great in my view - tall, elegant, slightly curvey, petite, feminine. Great future.
My only advice would be to get a pot that matches (elegant, feminine) and a colour that matches the flower colour.
Please keep us up-dated.

I have a pot planned for it, and will post photos if it flowers, but I feel that it will take me at least 2 yrs to develop it's root system into something suitable to sustain and balance this tree.
