Hi Everyone,

Just got back from the BSA Show at the Council Chambers, Showground Road, Castle Hill, NSW, and thought I would have a look to see what other visitors had thought about the 2012 effort.

I can't find anything up here! Can I be the only one? But then I'm terrible at finding things, and have to hang on to what isn't mislaid or lost! —Well you are missing something if you haven't been; you now only have Sunday 16th left. Great Show as always it has been on now since Friday and will close tomorrow evening at 4.00 pm. and you'll have to then wait another year.

I was hopeful that someone there with proper camera gear would have posted some pictures but my dodgy phone shots will have to do...

The lighting is always pretty dark at Baulkham Hills which makes it a bit difficult to photograph. The display is also a bit crowded which makes it difficult also. Following is a sample of what was on show;

Yesterday I was fortunate to be able to see Averil Stanley demonstrate her skills in putting together a rock planting - 'From rain forest to reef". Averil is a wonderful presenter with a relaxed and informative approach. She thoroughly explained every detail about how to construct the rock and the methodology behind her arrangement. Unfortunately the Ficus that she had prepared for the planting were damaged by a frost but she dis very well with the 'plan b' figs.

Unfortunately I missed Averil's Saturday demo but I dis=d see the pine she styles - WOW! It looked awesome! Great stock to begin with by Lee Wilson and she really found the best tree within

If anyone has any other pictures from the show or demo's by Lee Wilson, the Hood Bro's, Pat K, please post them.

Hello All,

I went up to the show on Saturday afternoon, with my parents...(my father is still not a convert!)...We only live ten minutes away or so, & although I live rather nearby, I still think it's the best show in Sydney, (well the best i have gone to.) Anyway, the red azalea was amazing & WOW!!!!, even my father was impressed! There may be hope!!!!We have fifty year old azealea in the front garden & I'm trying to persuade that they will look better as a bonsai.....

It was also,nice to go there and see fellow students & a respected teacher from the Scool of Bonsai! Also, what i thought was great, was the two ladies on the front counter, they both remembered me & my mother from the last two years....HOW's that for personal quality service!!

Although, could this mean that the bonsai community is so small in Sydney, everyone knows everyone??

G'day Ripley,
I would hedge a bet that its because of your age that you stand out and are remembered. You would have noticed that the majority of bonsaists are as old or older than your parents. It's youth like you who are the future of our art and the lovely ladies at the front desk know this.

Steven is correct Ripley it is a small community in many ways but you would stand out as you are younger than the average club member.

Hi all,
Thanks for your feedback. I loved being there and meeting everyone again. I am in the process of reconstructing the rock planting with the originally planned ficus and will post on this site on completion of the landscaping. Ditto also for the Black Pine Literati - I was really wrapped with the final styling.
