Hi
This is an epiphytic style fig I put together last October, this morning I uncovered and this is the result.
It was planted as a 3 year old cutting.
Just waiting for it to shoot back now to get branch development underway.

Hi Hugh, looking really good!
Did you treat the dead wood and do you know what species it is?
I will enjoy watching his progress
Cheers, Dario.

Re: Epiphytic ficus over stump
thanks Jerry
no i havnt treated the dead wood. i wanted to let it rot away naturally and see how it turns out. i may change my mind later and try preserve it but that the plan for the moment.
i think its Ficus macrophylla, it has quite large leaves but ive manages to reduce them well in the past.
i have a few of these of putting together at the moment and i have another i did about 2 years ago which is starting to fill out.

This is a very nice job Hugh.
Look forward to seeing this in a year or so with some growth.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Hi mate
not much has happened with this one, new shoots grew after the last picture and were wired into a basic structure. i also placed a small pot under the leaning trunk to "catch' the many aerial roots which were falling from the trunk which i will hopefully be incorporated into the design
