At last protecion from the sun

Post by mal »

I have finally been able to provide some protection from the elements. It is a bit like putting the cart before the horse with me.

Over the years like most beginners I think, have purchased some established bonsai for inspiration as we arm our self with the knowledge to grow something half ok without killing it first. I will get to it one day is my favourite. Well finally I have made this little shade house with a few stands inside to get some of my trees of the ground. I have been able to see almost instant results with my trees and plants. I must admit I already had the steel structure all I had to do was wrap it in shade cloth, some slabs for benches and the supporting bricks, free. I love the bricks they really look the part :imo:. It is not the best shade house in town I have not connected the water to it as yet but one day it will be done. Pics are not really in correct order but close.
Enjoy

Yes those concrete blocks look great don't they!
Got a real oriental feel about them.

Nice!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

:crikey: I have only had my little shade house up and running for a short time and I have already noticed an increase in bugs and little critters that want to eat my trees, would this be due to lack of air flow. My trees seem to love the new environment but what can be done about the bugs? Any hints please? :lost:

Mal, you have provided your trees with an area that gives them protection and it looks great. I use the yellow sticky paper hung everywhere in the garden. You can buy these from Bunnings or from nurseries or from orchid growers.
Air flow is important too. Good luck! Frank

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the info I will get some asap. I will have to monitor the air flow. Mal
