Norway Spruce -Picea Abies

Post by alpineart »

This has been on the back burner for some time . I made the cresent pot and others
100_9952.jpg
years ago and they sat in the shed since then , so i decided to get it out
100_9954.jpg
along with a few other items and finish them off
100_9955.jpg
.Idid cut more contours into the sides of the pot as it was too deep for my liking I had a Norway spruce sitting around
100_9960.jpg
with the ideal trunk for this pot so it was split down as it was too congested with too many trunks . I simply slip potted it after separation
100_9964.jpg
and slapped it into the crescent
100_9966.jpg
pot placed an anchor wire on it and there she is
100_9967.jpg
. It can settle down and finish the seasons growth and in the mean time i will get a few wires on it for a basic style . The pot itself measure 650mm high 530mm deep and 430mm wide , now back to those pots and trays .

G'day Alpine.

Thanks for sharing.
Great pots, I love the natural stuff.

I can't help but wonder how it would have looked if the tree had been turned 180 degrees in the pot?

No doubt you looked at this?

Look forward to seeing where you take this..

Cheers,

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Hi Biocs , the pot is in the process off finishing off the base coat is only half way there . The inside is done , just had to get the tree in there as we have some big temps coming up and time is getting away . The base on this Spruce is 100mm so it has 2 thick roots which don't allow it to sit inside the pot if rotated . This was the desired position for the style in mind before i realized the root issue . I have tilted out more to show the trunk off however maybe someone here could do a vert on your thought . Personally i think it will fight against the shape of the pot and create conflict rather than harmony .

Cheers Alpine
