G'day Ant.
If you don't mind me asking.
What soil mix have you got in there?
P.S. Great looking little tree IMO.
It's always nice to have these sentimental numbers and is what makes Bonsai so special for me.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Thankyou mate, striving to get as natural a fig as possible at this size

Conifer and fig mixes these days are 50/50 pumice 2-4 mm dust and all / Debco seed raising mix + some zeolite to boot. What you see on top are the 1mm fines of zeolite and iron stone...

Thats preddy
Is the lowest branch there to heal the wound and fatten the base and come off later or there to stay as part of the design? (both would look nice I think)

Hi Neal, thanks for takin the time. The bottom branch is to become more a sub trunk to mimick what figs do naturally. In most cases multi trunks. So yes it will also beef up the bottom end a little more and stay as part of the design. Oh yeah and the wound toonealweb wrote:Thats preddy![]()

Hi Antonio,
I like your fig alot, I could imagine it would be a sentimental tree in your collection, which makes that extra bit special over others. I still have my first bonsai I got when I was 12 and honestly wouldn't trade it for anything.
Look forward to seeing this one progress.
Cheers
David

Is it just me or does the tree look off centre?? It looks like it should be moved to the left slightly.

I think 'offcentre' would generally be considered correct placement for any tree in anything but a round pot.
