Fig fest.

Today I went to town on some of my gigs that were in need of help.
Some were trunk chop chunks that were stuck in pots to see what would happen and some were tiny starters that were purchased a few years back.

They should all make decent little bonsai, and of course so should the new trunk chop chunks
I just don't know where to stop with propagating
Is there a bonsai-itis specialist I can consult re my affliction

No pics at present, just didn't feel like it. Maybe I could hold a comp offering a stupendous prize to see who comes up with a sketch that most closely resembles the chubba fig that I had forgotten about for many years

All figs had the big ugly roots removed. I left a nice array of finer roots all around the base of the trunk to aid in the widening of the base.

Is the story the same all ways round? Being bonsai I doubt it

I have another one of those down the back, somewhat larger and more shapely than Chubba, lets call it Chubbs for a little differentiation

That barrow tub full of dirt and roots is a common occurrence. Anyone have any magic tricks for its disposal? I am running out of space.....fast. I do recycle and the fines and dust go to the bamboo Forrest. I am not going to make small miniature hills from it, my wife says they look like shallow graves

I just chuck any leftovers on the garden or in the Bin
As I use inorganic mixes now, I Have very little to throw out as I reuse nearly 99% of what comes out of the pot

You have been busy Damian!

May I recommend reviewing Case 1. in the tutorial Trunk Chopping. Your chops are pretty flat and when they heal they may look unnatural.

I've done a heap of figs (and others) as per the tutorial and they definitely heal nice and naturally.

Much obliged Steven, I found a bit of die back on my last trunk chop fig, not too much (about a 1.5cm).
