Fertilizer balls/tablets
Does anyone out there use commercially made fertilizer balls or tablets to sit on top of the soil? What's available on the market? I have recently stumbled on this on the net, anyone used it?

Re: Fertilizer balls/tablets
At first I thought they were a non fertiliser rort but they do list the NPK as 10:3:5 (if no npk is shown I would give a wide birth) wich is a great mix for a product who's main claim is microb activity. With an NPK of 10.3.5 it sounds and looks chemical but from it's claims sounds organic. It is very interesting

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

I use the ones you can buy in the big hardware stores now. It beats trying to make your own.

I have tried miracle-gro tablets but they break down pretty quick and they are all synthetic, I wouldn't recommend them for bonsai use.

Re: Fertilizer balls/tablets
When I was in Japan, it seemed at all of the nurseries had big 20 or 30 litre metal cans/buckets full of fertilizer balls. This was a commercially available product. Wonder if we can get some in.

Re: Fertilizer balls/tablets
Hi Webos, I've just started using Neutrog, Seamungus http://www.neutrog.com.au/100-organic-range-2/ . Not fert as such, more a pellet form (looks like DL) of seaweed + fish + nutrients (sounds fairly similar to whats in some of those home made cakes?). In short, I felt that the liquid forms for these 'tonics' were largely going to waste as a lot of it drains straight through
. I'll still be using other chemical/organic fertilizers combinations (sporadically
) but like the slow release, I know that at least they'll get a feed even when just watering
... The sure smell like they're doing good, about as strong as DL!
might have fun getting the Japanese one's through customs?
Good luck,
Ryan

Maybe an alternative?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pellet-Mill- ... 3f1ffe4edf
It just needs a larger die and roller set?
