If it were me, i'd worry about the branch placement and secondary branches first, arranging them in a oval cloud shape, then its a matter of removing any growth from underneath, and pinching the buds out.

Keep in mind I'm only a noob myself. :)

Determination. Perseverance. :lol:

It's very difficult for someone to explain in a post, and for you to understand it the way it was intended to be understood. Best way to learn is to watch someone do it!!

It would be, as Andrew has stated, started off with primary branch placement. Then some years of refining (tip pruning new growth and removing those pompom type growths on the foliage to get the finer foliage! - of course this is after you have developed the pad itself...
There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.

Thanks guys ill post a pic later on tomorrow
This my first attemp to make foliage pads and I want to successfully run a nursery buisness ending up in selling some bonsai
As well so I need to learn everything there is to successfully run my buisness
