developing a neagari ficus rubignosa 'little ruby'

This tree began as tube stock in 2007 and was planted in a plastic pipe about 30cm long and filled with sand. this was places in a pot with soil and left to grow for 2 years to develop long roots. it was originally invisaged for a root over rock planting but ended up using the roots exposed instead as they were quite attractive and also too thick at the time to get around a rock. the tree was planted in a slanting fashion and but never seamed to work.

my new years resolution this year (well one of them) was to find a design for this tree that worked!
i decided to change the planting angle but tilting the tree right up and turning it about 30 degrees to the left. this made better use of the branches and made it possible to create an apex which had prove to be a problem with the other design for many years.

it still has a long way to go and there are aspects i am still not happy with but i think it is finally on the right track for now
