Cedar bought from a Bonsai Society of Queensland show a couple of years ago for $6.

Re: [white.sakura] Cedar
Not sure what the height is now but it's considerably shorter
Also repotted it in a nice little pot that used to belong to a black pine...
Two weeks later and the new buds are growing. Wiring the branches will be next.

At the beginning of January wired down the branches:
Since then it's had a bit more growth on it:
Future plan when the raffia comes off, is to move the branch at the top of the raffia which is currently pointing to the right, over to the left.

Can't quite recall when the raffia (and wire) was taken off, and unfortunately I didn't take a photo when he sprang back afterwards.
Just got around to rewiring him again, he needs the middle bend to be made a lot sharper again, otherwise he's more or less back in his original design shape.

Re: [white.sakura] Cedar
Cedar has quite a bit of lovely new growth on him, gorgeous blue/green colour. Some of the new shoots at the top will need to be pruned back so they don't take over, and to allow the lower ones to have a chance to grow more. Ideally would like something to bud on the upper left to fill in that space but if no joy, there's a branch near the back that can be pulled around and utilised.
Quite fond of this little one (like the species) and he's survived one Summer already so hope he continues to do well.
