[LLK] J.squamata prostrata
Height 34 cm
Grown from cutting 2001
Cost: none
Was planted in open ground in 2003 and had to be dug up in Autumn 2010 because I moved house. Potted in black nursery pot. Has never been worked on, as the trunk was not yet thick enough to be interesting.
Might make an OK shohin.

Update 02/09/2011
Juniper reduced in size, so that I can have a good look at its structure and make a plan for the styling.
The new growth is very welcome!

Doesn't like the heat and had a setback after 2 days in full sun with temps above 30 degr. C. Is now spending some time in full shade.

Re: LLK - J.squamata prostrata
Hi Lisa,
I would have left more foliage on it so that it would bounce back quicker.
Anyhow good luck with the comp.
Also it is blue foliage so more likely a type of Squamata meyerii I think.

Hi Grant,
It could indeed be a J.S. meyerii. In fact, it's a cutting taken from one of yours in your nursery days.
Thanks Michael. You'll see the li'l thing alive (I hope) soon.

Yes, together with the repotting and 2 days of hot sun, I asked too much of the poor thing. It's still cautiously alive, though.I would have left more foliage on it so that it would bounce back quicker.

If it was a cutting from one of mine then it is not meyerii as I did not grow them; so more likely as you thought J squamata prostrata or I did grow a very old fashioned J procumbens that did have different looking foliage that was sparse, more adult foliage and paler color.

Re: LLK - J.squamata prostrata
Thanks, Grant. To tell the truth, the thought of procumbens crossed my mind several times when looking at these junipers (I've got several). I'll take one to the club next year to get a definite identification.
