Re: Azalea 2nd entry
Man thats a beasty! You will have fun sorting through all those trunks. Is it a sutsuki, it seems to have different coloured flowers, its a little early for satsuki flowering but they spot flower now. Its hard to see from the pic but looks like it might need a spray with confidor or a similar systemic insecticide if it hasn't already been done in the nursery.
Good luck, I look forward to watching the progress...

If its got a different colour flower it will be the white buds, the red on the top would be a flower from another azalea it was in with red ones. Its full of red spider I will be glad when I can cut it back, can’t complain at the price. It has a small leaf like a kurume but the flower looks to big
Cheers

Don't you just hate that! when the roots go out an inch or two from the trunk and just start spiralling
Great start! Are the cable ties securing it to the pot to hold it steady and stop movement? Nice trick, I like it.
looking forward to watching him come into shape

Re: [Aussie4bonsai] Azalea 2nd entry
Well my update news is bad news.
The azalea has gone to god.
I lost the top of my juniper by spilling liquid from fertilizer that I left out in the rain,
The bend worked but I wouldn’t waste any more time with it I am going to plant it in the garden to grow and fatten up.
Now the NZ Christmas bush it can’t make its mind up to grow or die still the same.
I am going to withdraw from the competition.
I wish you all good luck and a Merry Chistmas.

Sorry to hear Barry. As i said earlier its gonna be last man standing. The artist who can keep their tree alive for 12 months could win it.
