Re: [Neli] microcarpa green island
I have put it over a stone...and I am just letting it grow at present, so the roots can develop and stick to the stone. The tip was pinched only. Not much happening here...winter.

Re: [Neli] microcarpa green island
There is no progress what so ever yet. No new leafs or buds. The temperatures here have gone to 6C so the figs are not growing much.
Just for the sake of updating here it is:
I have done nothing to it yet apart from bandaging it on a rock, I think too tight and too much....it is my first root in rock...no one to show me...so I did what I thought should be OK. B ut there are some roots reaching the soil...It is just not growing, but it is alive. I dont want to style it now and stress it until I am sure it is growing...Way to learn thinks.

Re: [Neli] microcarpa green island
I decided to open it and see what is happening. I washed all the soil off:
My first ROR, so I probably overdid it all, but it seems the roots have grown, and are looking like they are following the stone tight. This is the plastic I had put for the roots not to escape under the sponge. This is how the roots are looking. I think it looks good. I rearranged some small roots, covered it with wet news paper again, and tied it with tape,
I had put wet newspapers on top of the roots, then a plastic sheet, so the roots are confined, and on top of that a sponge to press on the roots and cushion the wire I tied it all with on top. There was a hollow in front so I had put some stones on top of the cushion so the wire can press everywhere on top.My first ROR, so I probably overdid it all, but it seems the roots have grown, and are looking like they are following the stone tight. I had put lots of newspapers when I tied it first time. I did not find any paper left. The worms had eaten it almost all.
This is a tiny amount left with lots of worms concentrated on it.

Re: [Neli] microcarpa green island
Started slowly removing the top soil to reveal the roots slowly and wired it after light trim.

Re: [Neli] microcarpa green island
I wonder what my gardener did...Roots are cut.

Put some moss in hopping it will make new roots to grow.

and a branch has died meanwhile????
