Re: [Damian79] Punica granatum
Hi Guys this is my first trim and style. really opened up the tree a lot to see a basic shape. The lower trunk is a bit plain but im hoping it will fatten out and shoot a branch out down about half way.
The leaves are quite large on this tree so ill be counting on some ramification and back budding to fix that problem. I have another one of these that is doing really well so I know that they grow very quick and shoot from every where. the hardest part will be the constant rewiring. All in all im happy with the general direction this is heading.
Please feel free to comment.
Cheers
Damian

Maybe reduce the top straight bit by 1/2 and either select a new shoot for the apex, or just leave it a little shorter.

Ken,
You dont think he should use that nice branch pointing forward as an apex? It is nice and thick already and has nice movement. Since you will be growing a new branch as a leader just chop that fat branch, and grow a leader from it.The other shoot he can use as a branch if he chops it and bends it more horizontal.
JMHO...a newbie like you! He he he!

Re: [Damian79] Punica granatum
He could do that Neli, but that branch has little taper from the runk below, so I reckon better to just reagor the apex from new

Re: [Damian79] Punica granatum
Tapper is a bit of a problem from the first branch up, The way he wired that branch I wanted him to use for apex, with the thickness it has, it will be fatter than the apex at the moment, and might look like two trunks on top...with two apexes...which I think is a no no...
In that case it will be better to chop it, and use the branch behind, by bringing it forward maybe???
