It is getting real now...

Post by eddieperth »

So, this weekend I set up two benches for my bonsai. Somehow I felt like things were changing in setting up those benches. I had moved from 'interest' to full blown 'hobby'. Can't be far now 'til I reach 'lifestyle'....and then its a few circles down the drain to 'obsession'!

Thought I'd share a couple of pics of my new setup...

My wife's comment was: 'the shelves look awfully empty.'
My reply: 'Funny you should say that as the BSWA show/sale is coming up in two weeks....' ;)

At the same time, we worked together on a vertical herb garden by recycling an wooden pallet.

As my wife is an excellent cook, it is a double win for me...beautifies our outdoor area, and fresh herbs for her to work with.

Glad to get these two projects finished! Now what to do with the unused space on my benches?

I built myself a bench a few months back and felt the exact same way. It feels like a big leap to go from having a plant or two kicking around in a pot to having a fair sized area dedicated to just that. Congrats on the upgrade, the benches look good! Fresh herbs are really nice too. :tu: Good luck filling up your benches.
Cheers, Karl

When she complains that she can't get to or see the herbs it has progressed to a full blown hobby

Or when she's not sure what herbs are growing-turns out there's a bunch of starters in there!

Simple and effective Eddie. Just remember to turn your trees at least every week or 2 so both sides get plenty of light. This is even more important when plants are grown close to a wall like this.
