2013 AABC Convention - Exhibition 'The Australian Journey'

Post by JenniferM »

Hi all

While registrations for the convention are closed, you can still make it to the exhibition (assuming it's not too far to travel for a weekend!) :tu:

It's being held at Rydges Lakeside (1st Floor), 1 London Circuit, Canberra City from 9-5 Saturday 18 May and 9-4 Sunday 19 May. Entry is free as a result of generous support by the ACT Government Community Centenary Initiative Fund.

As well as a first class exhibition, there'll also be a sales areas open to the public, with traders being:
* Bonsai Environment
* Ray Neski Bonsai Nursery
* Ledanta Nursery (Leigh Taafe)
* Mirkwood Pottery (Pat Kennedy) - we understand that this is the last time Ray will be appearing at bonsai events :(
* Mudlark Pottery (Penny Davis)

We look forward to seeing lots of people there - both bonsai enthusiasts and potential bonsai enthusiasts (those who haven't discovered the joys yet!) :D . Please tell your friends who might be even vaguely interested about it.

And if you're looking for something else to do over the weekend, there are lots of events listed on the Centenary website (http://www.canberra100.com.au/ ).

Cheers - Hope to see you on the weekend.

Thanks for the warning Grant, I will definitely be doing that, probably buy some thermals too.

While I have you here, I would like to thank you for the wonderful job you have done as Curator of the Bonsai and Penjing Collection.
Now you can hand over knowing that you have given your all and left it in a fantastic shape. Look forward to having a few words and maybe a beer.

Cheers :hooray: a big Fan of yours Pup.

Hi All, to those who were fortunate enough to be able to attend the Convention in Canberra this year :mrgreen: Just wondering ... how was it? what was your highlight? Any photos of the exhibition? or of your workshop trees? what goodies did you pick up from the traders?

Couldn't make it this year due to circumstances, so I'd love to get just a taste second hand :fc:
Cheers, Ryan

Definite highlight was the workshop with Ryan :hooray: came away with 2 tree's styled by him. Great to see all the convention crew again for drinks. The venue, staff and food were average ...... On the road at the moment will post some pics later.
