Japanese Bonsai Artist - Mr Masashi Hirao

Post by Webos »

Not sure how this one has slipped under the radar, but according to the AABC website, it looks like we have yet another international artist visiting us this year. Mr Mr Masashi Hirao. http://www.bonsai-jt.com/List.asp?C-1-156.html

17th and 18th of August at the Bonsai Society of Sydney's annual show. Apparently he'll be doing two demonstrations per day. http://www.aabcltd.org/events-calender/ ... xhibition/

Cant believe that by the end of the year we will have had Ryan Neil, Uchi, Robert Steven, Mauro Stemberger, Masashi Hirao and possibly Bill Valavanis all visiting us.

I might have to visit all of them!

I wonder if economics has anything at all to do with it :lost:

Japanese Bonsai Artist - Mr Masashi Hirao

I hope someone has the equipment and organisational skills to ensure these international artists and their demonstrations are filmed and archived for future reference.

After all, we are bringing then out to further the knowledge base of bonsai in Australia, it would be silly to not have a lasting record of it.

It was a damn shame no one recorded the demonstrations of the artists at te AABC convention, hopefully we can rectify this in the future.

I agree completely biofusion.

Damian, I have also noticed a lot of big-name bands coming out here in the past year. I think economics might be playing a role.

CORRECTION - as has been pointed out, apparently Masashi will be doing 2 demonstrations. The other 2 demonstrations will be done by club members.

Masa is coming to the Goulburn Bonsai Society for a workshop in August and I can't wait. Its been a great year for bonsai talent in Australia and we should all make the most of it.

Does anyone know if he's coming to Victoria... Or if there is space in his schedule?

I think the last few words summed that up pretty well... "This guy is cool".

We need more of him.

Well today we had the pleasure of Masa conducting a workshop for the local members. He was fantastic, wish we had organised a demo as well now!
I will post a few photos as soon as I load them all up.

This photo editing business takes forever!
For those who said Masa was a "cool dude" that is very correct. But he is also a very talented artist with great insight and sensitivity and shows a creativity that is quite wonderful. He is of course a gentleman with great manners to go with his artistic streak.
The following photos are just a taste of his expertise and the Goulburn Bonsai Society were very pleased to be able to have him here today.

I am so glad you got the before picture of that juniper before we started. I really did not think he would pick that one to do. Forgot to take a picture of it,
