This is one of my favourite trees.
I will defoliate the tree shortly before spring to wire and shape!

awesome!! not sure if that'd be the best time to defol... maybe wait a little longer? depends on where you are i guess. A local fella with a tonne of figs says that since he was a kid he and his dad would do all fig defols on boxing day...

If it were mine I'd get that little fatty into a 12 inch pot, pic a new leader and remove almost everything else. Could be a great little tree in a couple of seasons

Just watch that all those branches at the top don't swell too much... Reverse taper? Maybe reduce a few and wire some movement into the ones you keep.... Looking good though
