Hi, I'm a noob here so I hope this photo attachment works
This is one of about 15 bonsai I inherited from my Aunt,
none of them had any sort of id, I have had them for about 2 years & I am at the point where
I need to think about repotting them so any help would be greatly appreciated.

My first thought was pinus mugo, but looking at the bark and the buds I changed my mind. I think it is most likely to be pinus sylvestris (scotts pine)
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.
The needles look like a Scots pine to me, not thick enough for Mugo. But I am not that experienced with pine id.
Cheers, Dario.
PS out of the three recent trees you posted, 2 pines, 1 juni...I like this the most.
They are all really nice though and well done on keeping them over the last 2 yrs.
Thanks Dario, I think I put it down to luck. out of the original trees she gave me I lost
one...not sure what it was, either a cedar or larch and I put that down to over watering.
She also left me a Japanese Cedar, small leaf plum myrtle, and some elms, a spruce
and a dwarf japanese wisteria also.
Hi Mountain Troll sorry to hear you lost one, but one out of ten (depending on the amount of elms you have) means you have managed to keep 90% alive ...you must be doing something right
I look forward to seeing your other trees at some stage down the track. How long did your Aunt do bonsai for?
Cheers, Dario.
I think she kept bonsai for around 10-15years but had to move into a unit and she gave them to me
because I had always admired them and I was the only person in the family that would
not kill them all. There were 3 chinese elms and a couple of pre bonsai stock that are starting to look
promising, one is a beech and a windswept Vibernum. This pine is my fav out of them all.
