Victoria Park Brisbane flowering trees

I don't have a picture, but up the end of Victoria Park near the brisbane grammar school end, there is a pale pink/white flowering tree that looks like prunus. Any Brisbane people been there and know the trees I'm talking about? Anyone know what it is? I've googled it but I can't find a picture of it. I may take a trip there tomorrow to get a picture.

From what I remember and the googling I've done so far, I think it might be a crab apple.

Possible, but very unlikely in Brisbane. Unless it is Malus floribunda which seems to do reasonably well in Bris.

Ok it's not a crabapple. It's not as spectacular as I remember but most of the buds are closed still.

Also spotted this shrub at my neighbours house across the street, anyone know what this is? It smelled lovely:

Bauhinnia variegata and Brunfeldsia latifolia.

Bauhinia is also known as The Orchid Tree and Brunfeldsia is known as Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. (previosly known as Francissia)

a pretty tree when in flower---If you are thinking of putting one in the garden I wouldn't put it near a pathway or the house cos the dried twisted pods are a shocker to walk on -and the seeds are thrown a long way from the tree at pod burst.
