Juniperus africana?

Post by klaery »

I found some of these at the local b... and they were much larger than the normal junipers they have. I got one, had a play and styled then potted it but I am wondering how it will go long term as a bonsai.

The only information I could find on it was in this thread (last post) and it suggested that perhaps they were no good due to their natural upward growth habit.

I can not even find anything on this species? Is it actually a species or would it perhaps be a mislabeled Juniperus thurifera var. africana? Does anybody else have experience with this juniper and is it wasting valuable pot space in its current bonsai pot? As it is I really like it but I do want to be able to remove the wire at some point.

Cheers,
Klaery
