Natives as Bonsai project

Post by GavinG »

Yes, it's happening. Slowly. I've taken thousands of photos, here are some.

Australian National Botanic Gardens today. Spring is official.

So why do we look a at a tree, and pass by hundreds of others? What makes a tree interesting to look at? And by extension, what makes a bonsai interesting to look at?

Flowers?

Leaves? Colours? Contrasts?

Shapes?

Textures?

Grace?

It all comes back to form, for me.

I'm beginning to think that bonsai is making all these things happen together, in a super-concentrated form. Everything should be interesting.

Acacias make mad shapes sometimes.

Thanks for reading.

Great photos Gavin, thanks for sharing. When do we get to see the rest of the project?

The introduction and the Eucs section are at their Last Revise, then off to Stephen to get their pixels sorted. Don't hold your breath waiting.
