Heading up to the Goldfields Bonsai Society Exhibition

Post by cre8ivbonsai »

Since I'm heading up there, I thought I'd give Goldfields Bonsai a hand and mention that their exhibition is on this weekend (Nov 9-10). Great bunch of people to talk to and see what they're producing (there's always something different there)
Always nice to get the chance to breath in the country air, lots else to see and do in and around Castlemaine and not to far from Daylesford etc.
See you there

Greetings,
Please remember that this forum is Australia wide and also has international members.
If you post information about shows or clubs please include the state and the dialling code for telephone numbers.
Also so there will be less confusion in the future if date that is used has the year, not just the month and day.
I wish you well for a wonderful show, I am sorry you are too far away for a visit.
Happy bonsai,
Bruce.

Bruce, this is not my show, nor my flier, I am simply passing on information to the wider Australian bonsai community, namely those in Victoria who would find it a pleasant day out. This information was posted in good faith as I received it, and it is certainly not my job to alter it. However, I am unaware that there is any other "Castlemaine, Goldfields" in Australia, but since you seem a bit confused ... "Castlemaine – City in Australia – Castlemaine is a small city in Victoria, Australia, in the goldfields region of Victoria about 120 kilometres northwest by road from Melbourne and about 40 kilometres from the major provincial centre of Bendigo." [Wikipedia]. And if you read a bit closer their flyer clearly states the days, dates, times and YEAR. Common sense would also relate both the date on my OP and my location in my details as Victoria. Hopefully this http://australia.gov.au/about-australia ... area-codes can help you work out the telephone state area codes in the future. Enough said. I too hope they have a wonderful show!

Personally, I can't wait to visit! I have always had genuine and warm experience when visiting this club's past show, chatting away for ages. I think it's important that we get along and support these smaller rural and regional clubs :flag: , as they often drive long distances not only to their own meetings, but to our city shows and events as well. Some of the knowledge and practical information, especially about rarer and native species, is invaluable and unique. :tu:

Thank you bodhi
Always a good trip to yours lots to see and lots to learn I always seem to walk away with a bit more knowledge after I leave.
I'm really trying not to purchase anything at the show .....but we all know how that goes
I'm taking my misses but only problem is she just shrugs her shoulders and says its your money lol
Bless her ....I'm lucky to have one that is supportive of the hobby and encourages me to spend time with my trees
She even watered them on the big hot day we had this week :hooray:
See how we go bodhi

I'm hoping to get up there but as it's someone's B'day tomorrow and I don't know what the girls have planned for me, I will have to wait and see. Bodhi, it would be great to meet up with you so if I can I'll try for Sunday. Was worth the trip up last year so hoping to make it this year.

I wondered, I've seen that in a few stores around here. Looks like a true vine, but the leaves are tiny and I've wondered how long it would take to get a trunk on one. That's a really unique idea though, very interesting.

Thanks for taking photos and sharing, much appreciated.

Great photo's Ryan :tu: I will add some more shortly but you have covered the bulk of it. I think we, as a club, are getting better with displaying and should have it down pat in another few years. The setup only took two hours this time.
