Have you seen this before?

Post by bamboos »

Hi all,
Recently while driving along a country road I came across this

I stopped to have a look and found these

Here is the tree
image.jpg

And a further view
image.jpg
Who has picked Ficus racemosa?
I haven't seen one with this many fruit before --- it is an Aussie species shared with se Asia and as you can see it bears it's fruit on the trunk and branches in bunches. There must have even several thousand on the road with just as many still on the tree
I wish I had a few fig recipes :crybye:
Regards Steve

Hi Jason
The fruiting habit is called cauliflory and happens on some other figs and even some Syzgium species as well as other trees
