Recently I've noticed some random little figs growing on people's brick fences
And I've harvested a few. This is the biggest one of seen but I'm not sure if it is a fig
Or what type of fig it is... The leaf shape and their size Is putting me off, but the trunk
Looks like a fig trunk.. Anyway can anyone help?
I am NOT that more experienced person but It looks like a ficus to me too...
up here they seem to love walls and even other trees to have a seed dropped into and take off.
Good luck with it
Definitely Dzou
a cultivar is a group in the species, microcarpa is a type of ficus, ficus is the species of tree... I'm sure that's how it goes
Grow it on and develope away mate.
Good luck
A cultivar is simply a plant, or a number of plants, of the same species which share the same unique characteristics. For example a granny smith apple come from the same species of plant as a golden delicious apple, they are simply two different cultivars of the same species which are propagated for their unique and desirable characteristics. hope that makes sense!
yes it is a ficus, i have one growing that looks exactly like that. ficus is the genus, microcarpa is the species, and it would be a cultivar of that species. just in case you get worried about the small dots on all the leaves near the edges, its there for the tree to remove excess salts from its system (when i got mine, i was worried it was under attack from insects since every single leaf had them and i was unfamiliar with the species)
