Potential Phoenix Graft material

Post by BonsaiElmo »

Just thought I would post some photos of couple of mangrove stumps I collected. I am thinking of doing a Phoenix Graft.

I might need to do something to preserved them (especially around the base), as they have become quite fragile - they sat in my mothers garden for a couple of years.

I am considering using junipers, I have two small shimpaku cuttings and a larger taxifolia that might be suitable. Though not sure with the root flares, the first trunk roots looks more like a ficus...

Any suggestions are welcome.
