Star Jasmine, anyone have any.
We 'had' a lovely star jasmine growing over the side fence. But when they put up the new colorbond fence, they dug it out. The perfume was great. So I bought a small one in a pot, looks healthy, has anyone bonsai-ed these. Plenty in books. It should be OK for Armidale,

Hi Bb
Funny that you ask because I have been pacing up and down at my parents place on a Star Jasmine I'm pretty sure. Yes smells wonderful. I think it's about 15 years plus as it was already there initially before we moved in.
Anyhow I will take photo soon as it has a rather impressive trunk but with no taper which could be challenging.
I'd also like to see if anyone else has bonsaid this specie

Re: Star Jasmine, anyone have any.
I have seen pics in bonsai books, this one was $12 from a garden centre, so I can treat it as a bonsai eventually. I intend to re-pot it into a bigger pot first. Rather than put it in the ground. Anyway, pic would be useful to me. I have a common jasmine, with an interesting trunk, but I will leave her in the large pot, she has heaps of flowers and cascades. Anyway thanks for anything you have on this potential bonsai.

Re: Star Jasmine, anyone have any.
Hi Neli, I got it from a garden centre, as a young star jasmine. There were others there that were throwing out tendrils already to climb. I picked this one because it was more compact. They come up from Melbourne area. As I have had one before, I don't doubt its genus, seeing the others there. It's label says it is a climber. This won't be of course.
They had about 20 of them for sale, they are popular in our area. Be it temperate cold in winter.

Neli, there is a variety of jasmine, called an Asian jasmine, looks like yours. The leaves are thinner, It is sometimes also called star jasmine. Hope this helps?
