thats a shame its cracked. You run the risk of it breaking apart with a tree and potting mix in it.

Yes, I really like it too. Ive seen pots that are fixed with gold or silver. I'm thinking about Using J.B Weld epoxy steel hardener.

I think that if iget J.B. Weld in the cracks and on the copper that crosses the cracks it will hold. My Dad is a Automotive tech. He gave me the idea. It holds the heat of a motor and water. But just to be on the safe side i'll cover the J.B, with something safe.

Tiny fungi growing in Gigko biloba pot.JPG
It is a lovely pot. I had a ceramic pot hand made pot, I used as a water bowl for the birds, and in winter filled with ice and cracked. But it wasn't glazed like this. I stuck it back together with superglue and left one part open for drainage. It is now used as a bonsai pot. So far so good it held together.

But I think yours is just a surface crack? Just seal it like advised. And watch minus C temps.

Just looking at your nice pot. I know you called it a pot, but in my opinion I think it's bowl. Judging by the drainage hole and the shape of the hole it looks like someone has drill a hole in this bowl to be used as a pot. This properly caused the cracks in the pot. Just my opinion.

It is not broken, and the cracks may not be all the way through. Glaze cracks. I would leave it for now. I mean to say, any bonsai roots arn't strong enough to put much pressure on it. And if it breaks stick it back together again. If it was antique porcelain, any hint of a restoration or or surface cracks on the glaze would devalue it, but actually a surface crack or two, adds character to the lucky bonsai who has a new home. :imo:

Hi Bush bunny tbat is some cool fungi! I want to start making pots myself. I dont know how that will turn out but its worth a try. I am sad to say that one crack is is bad the whole side of the pot opens to about one or two millimeters.

Yes another mushroom popped up when I brought her inside for winter. But I can't take credit for it. I bought it years ago from the Salvos op shot. It had a ceramic kukkaburra on it, it went somewhere. where the buddha is now. I paid a dollar. That one fungi came up after re-potting and when my son gave a double water. With tap water!!! These are supposed to be the sign the soil is over watered. Quite a few cropped up. They don't last long. Shrivel away in the sun.

I had a few growing too... from the pot that i have a false cypress but they shriveled away lol . I have a Small Rooster from Peru carved from a rock but he is missing :( I recently got back from vacation in Mexico which was fun. But my Dad watered my plants the month I was gone. With Tap Water!!! I collect rain water too. He didnt use it though. I lost a few dwarf shefflera .I dont think I spelled that right lol. Among a few other plants. But i brought back seeds from Mexico!! I have Royal Poinciana, Dwarf Poinciana,Texas Ebony, Mesquite, and Texas Mountain Laurels! I love these trees! I lived on the border of Texas and Mexico for 11years. I traveled alot because of my job in the crude oil business. And these trees could be found in many properties . I seen Mountain Laurels at Carlsbad Caverns,Guadalupe Mountains New Mexico. And in the desert in Laredo Texas to El Paso. But all these trees and many varieties of trees can be found in Lower Rio Grande Valley Texas. My home for 11years. The soil is incredible there a mix of clay and gritty sand. Just about all fruits can and most are grown there.

This is a group planting on a c.d. There are three Texas Ebony and two Mountain laurel growing through the c.d.
Image
You can see the thorns on the Ebony seedlings. One of the Laurels is maturing and turning green but no shoot yet. Oh well.

And the this a flamboyant seedling.
