I went shopping today looking for a deciduous trunk but nothing was talking to me until I came across this JBP.
I have a couple of questions to ask and always appreciate advise or constuctive criticism.
1. When wiring, do I wire the main trunk and then wire the branches individually with the appropriate gauge wire
2. You might not be able to see in the picture but there are some new branches on the insides of the trunch curve. Should I remove these now?
3. I know what I would do with this tree but I know little. What would you do?
Thank you

Re: JBP advise
I would ---remove from pot a investigate the nebari to see if it could be planted at a new angle--at the moment it seems to be out of character to have the lower trunk at that angle. At present the lowest branch seems to clash with the rest of the style but would leave it until an overall could be seen.

Re: JBP advise
I do like the movement in the trunk so personally for me, I'd eventually take off the bottom branch do a quirky literati style

Re: JBP advise
As Shibui advised me, removing branches lower down will slow the trunk growth - if you want it to thicken quicker, let them grow on and plant it out for a while to grow on - you may be able to establish some new branches to increase your options. Hard to do because the temptation to shape and prune is strong (it is with me at any rate), but I would get it in a grow box or in the ground myself, as it has loads of potential and will have a greater impact with a thicker trunk.

Re: JBP advise
Cut back the top section to the 3rd top branch ( on the right). The top is boring with no taper.
Wire the entire trunk and compress the bends to make it more compact and smaller.
Cut back the bottom 2 brnaches to get now growth in closer to the trunk.
Interesting Trunkline and could be a very nice tree.
Wire the trunline fromt eh ground to the tip as one.
Wire t branches together as one. That way they will hold each other.

Re: JBP advise
This tree has a long way to go and I would like to thank everyone that shared there ideas
I have wire this tree and and compressed it like ken suggested. I was going to do something along those lines but I never had the courage to look deeper into the tree and start chopping. I have also reduced the height to the new branch suggested because the lack of taper at the top stood out to me like dogs b@##& once pointed out.
i cut back the lower branchs after the second node. i didnt know if I could of gone further?
This has reduced the hight considerably and brought everthing back in closer to the trunk. I will repot it into a grow box as mentioned and then do I cut back the candles later this year or let it recover till next year

Re: JBP advise
I let the tree decide whether to do any more work.
In Europe or America, you would leave a full 12 months, ( or more), but here where we can get 2 or more growth flushed per season we can do a little more.
If the tree comes back with vigorous growth in at the end of summer then you can do some additional work then.
