Some info on R.obtusum, soalome azalea.

The one on the right, according to its label is 4 years old. 2010. The one on the left, is the one I saved as it had been planted by the same company in a double pot, with no drainage holes on the inside pot. It nearly died, but I got a rebate from Bunnings, it was originally $13.95. But all it had was azalea on the label with Serissa instructions. Yet it has now grown some new growth. So there is hope yet.

However, they are not very big are they, especially the one on the right if it is 4 years old.
Are they slow growers, and when do they flower? The one's I've seen in books, whoa they look great in clump and cascade styles. These are destined for a landscape for a few years. No trunks. Does anyone grow them?

These are SAO TO ME and they don't flower. Should be fun to work with.

Thanks Ken, I believe that saolome variety, aren't as popular as kurume? I did see another in flower, just one solitary flower, at Bunnings? So they are meant to be mini trees, should go well for a few years in a landscape, Eh? They have that Asian look to them too.

Marlee, I am not sure if I don't agree, you should have seen the left hand one in a double pot with no drainage holes, most of its leaves were turning yellow, when I discovered the water wasn't draining from the pot. But as a member (unauthorised) of the NIPR, I am pleased to say it has recovered. (National Institute of Plant Rescue)

Saotome are smaller variety and are know as a non flowering. They do occasional spot flower tho do not relyon it.

they are very good in landscapes.

Correction: On the label with microscopic printing. Should be R.obtusum, saotome azalea.
According to my magnifying glass. No wonder I couldn't find it anywhere.

Thanks Ken again, yeah, next time I will read the label more closely. But as you say they make good landscape trees, and maybe one day, fingers crossed they might decide to give me one little flower at least. (To say thank you for all my attention?)
