Brett & Teejays T R H
In a discussion with various members on the merits and demerits of Teejay & Bretts juniper. It was said by myself and others that trunk ratio to height was way off.
It was discussed at length.
Brett then posted some Bunjingi pictures. I persisted noting that, that option at the time had not been broached.
I then offered to show some Shohin with trunk ratio to height.
I have also shown some of what is termed by the yanks as Sumo.
Also one Bunjingi with a red tie down that will be up for Auction at the club meeting at the end of the month.

Yet more photos of terrible trees from your average collection Pup. Not.
You really do put a young upstart like me in his place.
Looking at those you've posted, I see the benefit in a decent height reduction on mine, maybe some carving too. The wife's not gonna like it, she's fond of that one.

I really do wish they'd hurry up and grow.

Re: Brett & Teejays T R H
Thanks Kindly Pup I have some small shipaku that these will be great reference for when styling. I think I can see how you did the first one on the right and I might give that a go. If I had taken that juniper back this size to my mates misses she would have chopped me down to size
I still say there is always the option of pushing the height to width ratio. Nothing wrong with going 12-15:1 on a delicate tree

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Re: Brett & Teejays T R H
i think i have a little somethin to say here, and tell me if i've completely missed the point again...
but i think that there is another factor to consider when dealing with the trunk:height ratio's and that is
canopy or crown size
if i look at a bunjin with delicate female features and see a wide canopy, it tells my eye that there should be a thicker trunk... or a much smaller canopy to get at least some power out of the trunk.
the same goes for sumo, it would look silly having tiny little pads and crown on a massive thick trunk, but get the size of pads and canopies right and you can make your tree believable whatever the ratio's of trunk and height.
i hope i have contributed in some way...
