Has anyone transported Bonsai to Perth?
I'm moving from Melbourne to Perth soon and would love to send my favourite Bonsai across as well (about 10 trees in total) but I have NO idea how to go about it! Has anyone had experience with shipping Bonsai interstate? I don't intend to send them until Winter, so there's plenty of time to organise it but would love to get some ideas. I'm aware of WA's quarantine restrictions and that added complication, but the information I've gathered so far isn't very helpful.

Hi Chris and welcome to the site. If you do search on here (top right hand corner of the screen) you will find this topic has been discussed a number of times and not that long ago. I believe there were some links in the last post referring to regulations etc. My understanding (limited) is if it has any dirt on it it can not be taken into WA without being treated (usually spells death for the tree).
Have you contacted WA quarantine and discussed it with them that's probably the best way to go. Good luck but I think you will have difficulty getting them in.

You cannot take certain types of trees into WA via road from other states at all; Pines for instance.
I spoke with Arthur Robinson this year who says it is possible to bring a pine in from overseas but that it must remain in quarantine for 5 years and they charge $5 per day per square metre of space it takes up.
1 square meter would cost $9,125 over 5 years and no guarantees.
Mario Comsta had asked if it where possible to come to Australia with a Bonsai collection so I did some quick research for him and I think this shows it is not practicable.
