Juniper List

Post by xIIRevoEvoS »

I would like to know what specie of junipers are ideal for bonsai.
I know that the ones mentioned below are ideal but what other types of juniper can you get for bonsai purposes?
Shimpaku Juniper
Squamata Prostrata Juniper
Chinenis Juniper
Procumbens (or 'nana' specie)
Kind Regards
Allen

You can add

J. Conferta
J. Rigida
J. Foemina
J. Sabina

Some that i dont think you will get here but make spectacular bonsai are the native american junipers like the rocky mountain and siera (occidentalis, may be avail. Here)

Hope this helps

Looks like from your recent posts you're after a juniper... :?: :!:
I'm not sure if this is helpful to you but I picked up a great pre-bonsai from Shibui recently. Great quality Shimpaku, more than happy to send me extra pics and respond to my Q's as and when required. He gave me great descriptions of trees I was interested in and was honest with his critiques. I was very happy with my purchase. Never bought a tree online before - but would happily do it again with him. Maybe PM him with your criteria? Food for thought...

 Shibui is in Vic but very close to NSW border so not sure what types (if any) apart from Shimpaku he might be able to offer. Still might be worth the enquiry, he's a good guy to deal with.
