Collected urban plum
This was a gift from the Man Up Stairs .A result of the wild weather that ripped through the town and left a little bit of damage to the street scape .The Parks and Gardens were very helpful in the assistance with the removal of the trunk .I have commented to the wife on many occasions that this tree would make a magic 2 man tree as it stood in the street .
Bugger me she came home from work and i told me of the big flowering plum that had been blown down .Within 2 minutes i was in the car and off like a "gut shot greyhound" to take a gander.Found the tree but no trunk so i went to the caretakers and asked if i could assist in the removal of the trunk rather than have it destroyed.
Only too willing to help they did ask what my intention was and with a quick explanation they lifted it into my trailer and i was off home to plant the trunk .All said and done the trunk needs a good work over so i will whip out the chainsaw and remove the unwanted centre and over large outer stub to transfer the energy into the direction required With a healthy root mass the trunk measuring 370mm x 470mm base 260mm trunk and 1100mm high will be a delight to carve and shape .Cheers

Hi Anttal ,See the surgeon on Wednesday ,couldn't help myself cant do any more damage . I've been looking for a monster for a long long time .Just to keep you fella's guessing estimate the age ,mate i still dont believe the ring count , IVE BUZZED PLANED SCRAPED AND POLISHED THE CUTS .One day it will be for sale ,not quite yet as i'm still drooling over the features and i want to cut loose and wrestle this mother ASAP .MUSCLES MOVEMENT ,LOOKS LIKE IT WANT TO PUNCH MY LIGHTS OUT .Better put it back in its box , the Stihl will take care of the aggression. please, what ever you do, DONT remove the lichen growing on the trunk. Its prized greatly as it shows great age.

Re: Collected urban plum
Hi Asus i does look good on a tree , but its certainly not healthy .I won't remove it unnecessarly except when the Stihl is fired up ,followed by the Die grinder then the Dremel .CheersAsus101 wrote:please, what ever you do, DONT remove the lichen growing on the trunk. Its Lichen, not moss. Only old tree's get it. You cant find john naka talk about it in one of his books.
Its something you want too keep cos you can not get it back by any means other than age.
