JBP Buds!

Post by badabing888 »

Hi Guys,

I've got a JBP in development still of the trunk size etc and will get its trunk chop next year with a new apex.

Can someone chime in as ive never had such huge extension of buds this time of year.....

What do i do from here should they be cut back allowed to extend out?
Should i also pull needles and select buds as per normal....

The branches you are intending to remove at some later stage can be left to grow and used to thicken the trunk. The ones you may keep should be reduced to 2 or 3 candles per shoot. The rest are removed completely. After that when needles are just beginning to show on the candles, pinch them back leaving a few needle clusters (depending on the strength of them) I don't thick there is a real need to prune mature shoots off at this stage.
