Albury Wodonga Bonsai Society used the annual Albury show last weekend to promote bonsai to our local community. 5 members contributed trees for the display and time to tell people about what we do. Unfortunately the weather was not conducive so the crowds were a little depleted but we still managed a bit of interest from some of the passers by.

As usual Alpine Art spent time trimming, wiring and chatting and generally creating quite a bit of interest all weekend.
The real serious business happened over the other side of the shed. Competition
The Horticultural Society had 2 classes for bonsai - Small and Large and 3 club members entered trees in both classes.
I note that Alpine is telling us that his camera malfunctioned and he cannot show any pictures ....(possibly due to the results eh, Alpine??) He's not going to get away with it that easily though because my camera did work so here's some shots of the competitive classes.

We had more entries in the Large bonsai class....

Note that Mt Alpine was too tall to compete in this category but the ever resourceful Alpine Art performed some surgery and wiring to reduce the height enough to get it in

Public opinion seemed to be equally divided between Mt Alpine and the large Trident Group. Several kids mentioned that they thought there might be fairies in that forest and one adult, after some serious consideration reckoned that there was probably some fairies climbing up and down the roots of those figs on Mt Alpine.
Well done to all our members who helped over the weekend.
