Atlantic Cedar [ID]

Post by Lane »

Hi,

I picked this up from a guy last week who said it was an Atlantic Cedar although the pics I've seen here and elsewhere of Atlas Cedars appear to have blueish foliage?

Can anyone please help shed some light on which cedar it is?

Much appreciated,

Chris.

They are notoriiously hard to tell apart when young. For what it's worth, it looks like an atlantic to me (or a lebanese)
Interestingly there are now only 2 species - C deodara and C. libani. atlantica and brevifolia are now considered sub species of libani.....for now.

I noticed the changes to classification in my initial search for answers.

Thanks for your quick response.

I'm happy to call it an Atlantic for now and see what a few years growth reveals.

Would you do any shaping or trimming or just some pinching and let it thicken up?
