Can anyone tell what type of figs these are fr
Can anyone tell what type of figs these are from this poor image? The leaves look really big. Would they make good bonsai?

do the leaves (particularly the larger, older leaves) have a fine brownish fur on their undersides?

Hi Homer,
Considering the size of leaves, which also seem to be green underneath, the aerial roots and the yellow fruit, i would say these are ficus obliqua, small leaf fig tree.
Regards, Pierre

most figs that are bonsai are usually port Jackson or Moreton bay figs.
You would be a safe bet to assume its one of those...

Does not look like pot belly fig Homer.
Leaves don't look unduly large to me but not a lot for scale in the photo. Fig leaves do reduce in size when managed correctly. I don't see too many problems with these as bonsai.

Those tubs are pretty large - at least 35 cm, possibly 40 cm diameter so that makes those trunks quite thick, particularly the one on the left. Good potential

Yeah. Thats what i was thinking. its just the leaves that may be an issue. But as stated previously, they will probably reduce in in size. I'll go and have a look at them and see what they are like.

I guess wait for the rusty underside of the old leaves for macrophylla confirmation?

Mature Moreton bay fig leaves have a reddish brown underside.
