It's an Acacia. I think it may be Acacia Baileyana (Cootamundra Wattle)

Looks very similar to my grey leaf Mimosa I have in my backyard.
But I do not know if it native to Australia.

Wiki says:

The species is native to South America and Central America, but is now a pantropical weed. It can also be found in Asia in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. It grows mostly in undisturbed shady areas, under trees or shrubs

It could be an Acacia Dealbata (Silver Wattle Mimosa)

Has anyone bonsai an acacia?
I think i remember reading it is difficult as they tend to short lived and subject to many disease.

I've seen plenty of sticky wattle's which look great.
In terms of the short lived - this has been debated much..
How long is short?

I'm with Kirky. That's Cootamundra wattle - Acacia baileyana.
It can be a bit of a weed even here in Aust.
Acacias can be used as bonsai but I think the leaf type of baileyana makes it a bit more difficult to make a nice looking tree.

My Acacia Howitti (Sticky Wattle) is about 18 years old. Still going strong. Its a bit bare in the back at the moment due to a tenant dispute with some Ring Tail Possums. So not so short lived.
