Azalea heat stress
Hi guys,
Need some help with my Azalea urgently. I was called away for work for a few days and forgot to move my bonsai into the shade. As a result it got hammered by 4 days over 35 degrees!! It's looking very sick (possibly dead) all the leaves were burnt and have now fallen off. It's been 3 weeks now with no signs of new foliage.
Is there anything I can do to help/save it? I'm relatively new to bonsai and it was a beautiful plant! I'd hate to lose it.

Re: Azalea heat stress
I would just be keeping it in the shade not letting it dry and crossing fingers

Re: Azalea heat stress
I hope you immediately soaked the pot to get the mix properly damp again.
After that it is just a question of keeping the roots slightly damp and keeping your fingers crossed.
If it is still alive it will shoot again but sometimes takes a couple of months to see new buds. If it is dead there's nothing you can do.

Re: Azalea heat stress
Becareful not to over water. Only water when the soil is starting to dry out. Keeping it too wet if it is still alive will definitely kill it.
Cheers

Re: Azalea heat stress
Some years ago a friend of mine had the same thing happen to her azalea. I followed the advice you've been given and it came good in about 5-6 weeks. So you should see new growth in another couple of weeks if it is still alive.
