prunus mume
Hey folks,
Yesterday I was lucky enough to pick up a beautiful old mume, I believe it was planted around 1990.
It had a fair bit of dead and rotted wood on the trunk so I got out the dremel and got to work, I plan on mixing in some ash with the lime sulphur to darken it up and make it look more suitable. And the view of the trunk from the intended front And the whole tree For now I intend to pot the tree up and just enjoy the flowers from the huge number of buds, and then after flowering I will make my choices re. branches and start to build the structure
Cheers,
Kerrin

Re: prunus mume
Personally I'm not 100% convinced on the potting angle but the flowering display and character on this one is awesome!
Keep us posted on this magnificent old tree.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Looking great. Nice carving
A stick in a pot is better than no stick at all. Remember even the best bonsai started as a stick.

Hi Boics,
I like the way it is potted up. But I would love to know what other angle you would pot it. Please share your thoughts.
Kez, sorry I can't down load pics. Don't have the tech.
Cheers

WOW! I love it. Not just the flowers, the curves are quite nice too.
Always we hope someone else has the answer.
