Repotted chinese wisteria

Post by Firecat »

Seems a few Wisteria posts have popped up over the last few days and rightly so as they are pushing out this springs growth.
Better just see whats what with mine as well.
Sight unseen with my Chinese I picked it up for a look see and it's pot (2 years) had a big crack in the back..
OK it will probably last for years then again with growth it may just shatter.
Dig it out and re do it.
The flat square pot I have now used may not be to everyone's liking but but as Wisteria is an old cottage type tree I went for a basic clay fired unit.
It is Japanese of which I was give a pair a year ago.
Wiring holes were cut and drain holes (2) were re cut to 20mm.
A little wiring and as Kpoole mentioned in a previous post a flower platform was sightly altered.
Also are some pics of my other standard fair wisteria that has been growing on a mini arbor for a few years and again to quote Kev back budding on old wood is striking well.
The arbor may look agricultural but when it is leafed up and flower sprays are present you can't see it.

Steve.
