Buxus Cuttings

Post by Jester »

Hey guys, one of my horticulture assignments will be to take some semi-hardwood cuttings of Buxus Japonica. What I would like to know is:

Can anyone tell me if it is too late in the year to do this? and secondly, how long should it take for them to start developing roots? Does anyone know?

Thanks

John

Buxus are one of the easiest cuttings to stike, I have planted them at any time of the year, usually when I am trimming them, stike rate is very high, but they sometimes take up to 3 months to get roots.I usually strike them in normal potting mix with a bit of extra sand added and put them in a protected area.
Good luck,
Jonden
