trident 1 possibilities

Post by Jamie »

ok guys, this is one of the tridents i bought off Jow. the one with the big scar, i was thinking of making this a feature. i will post the two best shots, front and back, or back to front. and my idea of a possibility for this tree :D

obviously my virt skills aren't super, so to give you a run down, the black is the trunk hollowed out (i couldnt figure out how to make it looked carved :( i would if i could :) ) and the branching in the winter silhouette is all there ready to be wired into place, i worked the virtual around what is there.

comments, design ideas, advice is always welcomed :D

Hey jamie,
That would be the best thing to do with this one, because that scar ( if not used as a feature) will look ugly and ruin the tree. I think that you should hollow it all the way down, instead of just up the top.

thats the idea mate, but i would like to see it get smaller towards the bottom. this will resemble a tree with a trunk that was much taller, and due to a branch rotting or winds etc. the main trunk toppled and tore down the tree, causing the hollow to be smaller at the bottom. and then over the years the insides rotted out and the trunk as you see it became hollow.

this is my insight to the tree :D

and yes i do, i am just doing that up now and will post it under trident 2

yer. it's meant to look like a big tree that has fallen over and taken most of the trunk with it, then the lowest branch has turned into its own tree

Great project Jamie, I would like to see the tree remain short, if so, it falls away too much change the potting angle a little to bring the apex foreward. JMHO
Q: Why are we all here?

I reckon the second last photo 'trident thick opposite side of scar' looks the nicest, with the scar hidden round the back of the tree. Maybe it would slowly heal over time. Its a nice looking tree that from that side :D
