Mystery tree

Post by Raging Bull »

:?: Can anyone please identify this tree for me? I live on the Gold Coast and have them growing here and there in my garden but usually treat them as weeds and pull them out. They must germinate from seeds blown in or brought in by birds. I potted this one a few weeks ago to see what it would grow into. They are quite tough and have a long, strong tap root and seem to survive with very little water, though this one is loving the potting mix and regular watering. If you know what it is, is it suitable for bonsai? :?:

Koelreuteria paniculata as a rough guess. Not as desirable as bo sai due to compound leaves.
